Miniature Schnauzers are alert, active, affectionate, intelligent, and can be a wonderful companion, especially with the proper training. The Miniature Schnauzer is of the schnauzer breed of terrier that originated in Germany in the mid to late 19th century. They were originally used to keep rats and other vermin out of barns and for guarding herds and farms. They make excellent watch dogs and bark to warn, but not for recreation.
