He played the T-Birds member Sonny LaTierri for the 1978 film version Grease, a role that he is best known for. For five years Tucci played Garry Shandling's best friend Pete Schumaker on the cult classic It's Garry Shandling's Show (1986-1990). He also spent more than three years touring with companies of the musical "Chicago," performing as lead character Roxy Hart's husband, Amos.
On television he also played Dick Van Dyke's friend and hospital administrator Norman Briggs, for the first four seasons of Diagnosis: Murder.
Tucci is currently teaching and coaching Introduction to Fine Arts and Theater Arts at St. Francis High School in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
Of the six men who made up the Three Stooges, three of them were real brothers (Moe, Curly and Shemp.)


Norman Briggs, the character played by Michael Tucci, was scheduled to be murdered by a man seeking revenge against Dr. Sloan in the 4th season finale "The Murder of Mark Sloan". Tucci begged producers not to kill him off and they agreed. The following season he was no longer on the show and no explanation was given as to where his character went.
Set in high school, most of the principal cast were way past their teenage years. When filming began in June 1977, John Travolta was 23, Olivia Newton-John was 28, Stockard Channing was 33, Jeff Conaway was 26, Barry Pearl was 27, Michael Tucci was 31, Kelly Ward was 20, Didi Conn was 25; Jamie Donnelly was 30, and Annette Charles was 29. Only Dinah Manoff, Lorenzo Lamas, and Eddie Deezen, all 19, were still teenagers.
Graduated from H. Frank Carey High School, Franklin Square, New York.
Michael and his wife Kathleen have two daughters, Kate and Kelly.
Went to law school, passed the bar exam, and briefly became an assistant district attorney in New York until disillusionment with the job and career politics set in.
