Roy Clark
Roy Linwood Clark born on Apr 15, 1933 in Meherrin, VA
I don't know what you mean by country music. I just make music the way I know how.
Hank Williams, Sr.
Back in the late 60's my mom ran two bars in Tulsa Oklahoma. One was the Daylight Lounge and the other was The Rebel Lounge. Each day, after school I spent my afternoons cleaning the parking lots and bathrooms, washing glasses, sweeping floors, and whatever else needed doing.

I have a lot of wonderful memories from that time but my favorite was meeting Roy Clark. Every so often he would come to The Rebel Lounge and he was always smiling and laughing. I thought he was one of the nicest people I had ever met. He had a smile that could brighten the room and a wonderful sense of humor.

One Halloween, all the employees dressed in costumes. Mom had created a black cat costume for me. Mainly, it was a black sweater, black pants (with a long black tail), and a plain black mask. I remember the outfit quite well because of Roy. I was walking to the back of the bar with a tray full of glasses and Roy walked up behind me and yanked on that long black tail. I almost dropped the tray on a near by customer. Now that I look back, the whole thing was funny, but at the time I was shocked and a little angry. But I knew it was all in fun and got over it quickly.

Mom gave up the bars in the 70's and I never got to see Roy again. But I am still a big fan and always will be.

My mom's mother was hooked on Hee Haw and never missed a show.

The 1st inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961 were Jimmie Rodgers, Fred Rose and Hank Williams.
